Everyone moans about their job from time to time, but how bad is your job? Time for a change? Here are eight jobs you really would not want to do.

1. The Forensic Entomologist
Working with dead bodies is not everyone’s cup of tea, but how about the poor souls who have to work with creepy crawly-infested dead bodies? Forensic entomologists specifically investigate the maggots, flies and other bugs that make their homes in the bodies of murder victims.

2. The Snake Milker
Many people are terrified of harmless snakes but milking highly dangerous snakes of their venom is not the top of the job search list. One snake milker admitted that he had forgotten how many times he had been bitten, but had been ‘envenomed’ nine times resulting in being on life support four times.

3. The Slaughterman
Next time you are chewing on a beef burger, spare a thought for the slaughterman. Imagine spending your days killing animals? Is it surprising that vacancies are always being advertised.

4. The Crime Scene Cleaner
Ever wondered what happens when the crime scene investigators have completed their investigation? You cannot just leave all that mess behind. That is where the crime scene cleaners come in. Not only is this a pretty messy and unpleasant job, but it also carries a constant contamination threat from diseases like Hepatitis.

5. The Bomb Squad Technician
We have all seen footage on TV of the dangerously heroic deeds of bomb squad technicians, putting themselves in life-threatening situations, to save other people. To pull off the job you need to be technical and level-headed and you REALLY need to be able to keep your cool in slightly stressful situations.

6. The High-Rise Window Washer
When I was taught to abseil it was the climber’s easy way of getting down a difficult rock face. Now it is a seriously industrial skill used in washing the windows of high rise buildings. For people with a fear of heights this is the job from hell. But if I was offered the opportunity to abseil down the Chard…!

7. The Clinical Trial Volunteer
Often, people see clinical trials as a quick and easy way to make money, which is fine and it is usually for a great cause. However, mistakes happen. In 2006, six ‘healthy young men‘ had a serious reaction to an anti-inflammatory drug they were testing. According to BBC News, the affected men described “feeling like their brains were on fire and their eyeballs were going to pop out” and the worst affected lost his fingers and toes. Pretty terrifying! Is it really worth the risk?

8. The Ghost Hunter
Do you believe in ghosts? Do ghost hunters exist? Well, apparently they do and the UK register lists over 5000 of them. They say it is a dangerous job, but not necessarily because of the ghosts!
