Many organisations have stated values which they claim sets their organisational culture. Nothing could be further from the truth! The culture of any organisation is set by the behaviours of those within it. Often there is more than one culture, some being overt and others covert; some being around managers and others around the workforce. To achieve a culture that is consistent across the whole organisation it is necessary to:

  • Define organisational values,
  • Provide examples of behaviours that support the values and those that do not,
  • Communicate these effectively to everyone
  • Monitor behaviours and address those that work against the values.

Remember, the behaviours you ignore are the behaviours you set.
